Viticultural Practices
Varietals: 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 17 % Merlot, 7 % Cabernet Franc, 7 % Malbec and 4 % Petit Verdot
The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec grapes were sourced from carefully selected trellised vineyards in Stellenbosch. These low yielding vines contribute to an increased concentration of flavour in the wine.

Winemaking Practices
The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec varieties were matured separately in 225 litre 100% new French oak barriques for 20 months. Blending has ensured the balance of fruit, structure and age ability.

Tasting Note
Expressive with bold plum, blackcurrant, graphite mineral notes. On the palate the layers unfold into a full-round, smoothly textured tapestry of flavours: cassis, dried tea leaves, cigar box, milk chocolate overlayed by anise and nutmeg and a well-judged tannin grip to finish. Elegant and shows its pedigree. Age 10 years+.

Cab-led (65%) blend with merlot, cab franc, malbec, petit verdot is exceptionally impressive in 2017. Intense dark-berry fruit easily assimilates all-new French oaking, 22 months, more than for 2016 (4.5 stars, 93 pts), which had less fruit depth. Balanced & sophisticated, with further ageing potential. Confident Bordeaux-style statement, also in magnum.

One of a trio of delicious Bordeaux red blends from The High Road, now working with consultant Miles Mossop, this is Cabernet Sauvignon-led with 35% Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Effortlessly handling its 100% new oak, it’s a refined, dense, floral red with herbal complexity, very fine tannins and a core of dark, minty fruit. 2022-29
